Kwibuka32 was commemorated in Manchester on Saturday, 18th April 2026, in the presence of our High Commissioner Johnston Busingye, MP Rebecca Long-Bailey, Salford City Mayor Paul Dennett, Salford City Ceremonial Mayor Councillor Heather Fletcher, Councillors, faith and community leaders, Rwandans and friends of Rwanda — united in honouring the victims of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda.
The commemoration began with a wreath-laying ceremony at the memorial stone site in Saint Stephen's Gardens Park in Salford, paying tribute to the loved ones lost.
Attendees also listened to a powerful testimony from genocide survivor Mr Jean Louis Mazimpaka, reflecting on resilience, remembrance and hope.
Remarks from invited leaders reaffirmed the shared commitment to “Never Again”.
Kwibuka32 served as a moment of reflection, unity and solidarity — bringing communities together to remember the victims and stand against hatred and division in all its forms.
